I am interested in the history of Mormon Reservoir as my great grandfathers family was from that area. However, I can find no information about its creation, ie: was it a lake first, was it flooded to create the area and so on.  Family legend says there was the town of Manard there once...Thank you for your time!

     Mormon Reservoir is a nice lake to visit. Be careful coming to Mormon Reservoir, you might not ever wanna return home again. Soldier Creek RV Park is a delightful campground nearby. Mormon Reservoir gets very little rain; of all the months in a year December is the one with the most snow; August is when it's the driest. Summer at Mormon Reservoir arrives with high temperatures in the 80's. Summer overnight lows descend down to the 40's. For the duration of  
   the wintertime highs are mostly in the 20's with winter lows in the 0's overnight here at Mormon Reservoir.
Stay the night at Iron Mountain Inn; on a lovely day you get a brilliant vista of Lookout Point from Mormon Reservoir. Really delightful skiing awaits you at Soldier Mountain Ski Resort, and hiking is a popular thing to do around Mormon Reservoir; Bremner Trail is a fine local trail. This lake is so wonderful. If time allows, Hagerman Fossil Beds
 
               National Monument is a national park worth a visit, and let's not forget East Fork Threemile Creek which is a stream that you may stumble upon while you're here.
A pleasant spree to Squaw Flat is a great way to spend an afternoon; Mormon Dam is an out of the ordinary thing to check out.
