If you are in this part of Idaho make sure to pay a visit to Morehead Lake. If you go for the outdoors, you'll love Morehead Lake. The snow is great at Brundage Mountain; camping at Bruce Meadows Campground is always a great experience. | | everyone but if it's for you then we recommend Bear Valley Creek, and the Camptender Trail is a pleasant hiking trail nearby. The vista of Morehead Mountain from Morehead Lake is delightful; if you're here you can take a hike along the Prospect Creek Trail. Man, is there a lot of amusing stuff to do in the Salmon River Mountains. Morehead Lake is not the only place nearby, Cutthroat Lake is a nearby lake; getting to Morehead Creek from Morehead Lake is trouble-free. | |

During the summertime at Morehead Lake highs are usually in the 80's, and all through the night it cools down to the 40's. For the duration of the winter highs are in the 30's, and nighttime lows in the 10's for Morehead Lake. This
lake is so wonderful. Morehead Lake is perfect enough to spend more than a day at, Velvet Falls Campground is a perfect local campground. You truly have to adore the Salmon River Mountains. On a good day at Morehead Lake you can take
a hike along the Sulphur Creek Trail, and after a long day outdoors Ashley Inn is a great place to spend a night or two. An average amount of rain falls at Morehead Lake; the month with most of the snow is January, and July is the month with the least moisture.

 | 14 miles away Moderate uphill hike..couple of miles from road; classic rock wall mountain behind lake; nice place to backpack into..day trip or camp overnite; some wild life; hiked in here in summer and early spring when 1 - 2' of snow on ground (and melt was rushing down mountain side beneath snow...flowers growing in ground beneath crystal clear runoff (beneath snow...quite a site).Didn't catch any fish during August trips. Last time I was in there was the 1970's.... |
