For the duration of the summertime months at McHan Reservoir temperatures are usually in the 80's, and the nighttime is a little cooler of course, typically in the 40's. Through the winter highs are in the 20's; during the dark hours in the winter at McHan Reservoir       temperatures sink to the 0's. This lake is so wonderful. If you came for an overnight stay Soldier Creek RV Park is a perfect spot to camp, and McHan Dam is scenic. Big Wood River is a tremendous whitewater spot right next door to McHan Reservoir, and at McHan Reservoir you can observe Johnson Hill. A journey to Hash Spring will fill your spirit with magnificent feelings, and Long Gulch is another pleasant spot to stop by nearby. And that's not all you can                  do here at McHan Reservoir. If you get bored of McHan Reservoir, you could also stop at close by Spring Creek Reservoir; a good location for whitewater paddling is Camas Creek. It is very arid here at McHan Reservoir mostly; the month with most of the snow is January, and the driest month is August. This lake is so wonderful.
