There's no such thing as a bad day of skiing at nearby Soldier Mountain Ski Resort. At McDonald Lake you don’t see much precipitation; the month with most of the snow is December; July on the other hand is the driest. Through the days of summer at McDonald Lake highs are frequently in the 70's, and during summer nights temperatures are in the 30's. The wintertime comes with highs in the 20's,       and throughout the dark hours in the winter at McDonald Lake temperatures fall to the-10's. McDonald Lake is located in the Sawtooth Range. This lake is so wonderful. A pleasant location for whitewater paddling close to McDonald Lake is Salmon River. There's so much to do here at McDonald Lake that you need to camp here for a while, Smoky Bear Campground is a glorious place for that. Pettit Lake is a nearby lake that you could check out; don't leave McDonald                  Lake without first going for a hike along the Yellow Belly Trail. If you want a good time in the great outdoors just come on up to the Sawtooth Range.
