At McDonald Lake during the summertime highs are in the 70's; the overnight is a bit chillier of course, ordinarily in the 30's. For the period of the winter highs are in the 20's with temperatures at McDonald Lake dipping down into the-10's during winter nights. This lake is so wonderful. You'll never forgive yourself if you don’t go skiing at Soldier Mountain Ski Resort if you're here. You'll       need more than a day to look at everything McDonald Lake has to offer, you can camp at Alturas Inlet Campground. Having a good time in the Sawtooth Range is painless. Stay the night at Smoky Bear Campground, and hiking along the Yellow Belly Trail is great fun. Just can't get enough of McDonald Lake. There's whitewater on Salmon River for all you adrenaline people, and do explore Hell Roaring Lake, it's a charming lake. It is very dry here at McDonald Lake ordinarily;                  December is the wettest month with most snow while July is ordinarily the driest month. Have a great hiking adventure along the Bull Moose Trail, and a stunning lake like Pettit Lake is a good site to stop by.
