Malony Lake is always a pleasure to visit. Life's too short to enjoy all the fun stuff in the Salmon River Mountains. Get your heart pumping on the delightful whitewater of Salmon River - South Fork, and Summit Lake is a nearby lake that you could pop by. This lake is so wonderful. The top of Boulder Summit is easily seen from Malony Lake; you can run the rapids of Payette River - North Fork. All year is a pleasant time in the Salmon River Mountains if you love

Lake is Kennally Creek Campground. On a brilliant day at Malony Lake you can take a hike along the Paddy Flat Lake Fork Trail, and camping at Lake Fork Campground is always a good experience.
The Boulder Lake Trail is a fine hiking trail next to Malony Lake, and a pleasant nearby hotel is Mccall Super 8 Lodge.

Blackmare Lake
 | The trail to Blackmare Lake is in very poor shape. The fire last year weakened the trees and the wind took down many of them. There are several 24-36' logs across the trail preventing horse travel. Hikers can make the trek, but expect to be climbing over a lot of down timber. The trails themselves are not terrible, but they are very loose with decomposed granite sand.
The other big problem with the trail is that past the signs at the first bridge, there is absolutely no direction as to where the trails will take you or how far you are along the trails. ... |
