What a nice lake Mallard Lake is. This lake is one of the great places here in the Bitterroot Range. During the months of summer at Mallard Lake temperatures are regularly in the 80's with nighttime lows in the 40's. During the winter this place gets highs in the 30's with winter lows in the 20's overnight here at Mallard Lake. This lake is so wonderful. This lake is so wonderful. Going for a hike along the Old Montana Trail will let you absorb the natural beauty of this region. There's so much to do here at Mallard Lake that you need to camp here for a while, Aquarius Campground is a perfect spot for that. Skyland Lake near Mallard Lake, and Mallard Peak is trouble-free to spot from Mallard Lake. Man, is there loads of amusing things to do in the Bitterroot Range. Getting to Greenie Creek from Mallard Lake is trouble-free; do take
a hike on the Dead Mule Trail. Lakes are such peaceful places, why not stop at Fawn Lake near Mallard Lake, and whitewater paddling is not for everyone but if it's for you then, we recommend Clearwater River - North Fork. A common
amount of rain falls here at Mallard Lake; the month of January is the wettest with most of the snow while July is the month with the least amount of precipitation. So much amusing stuff to do here in the Bitterroot Range, too

Lookout Pass

1935. The local ski pioneers chose Lookout Pass because of the abundant snowfall and excellent snow quality which they could access by jumping on the Northern Pacific railcars as they proceeded east from the mining towns of Wallace and Mullan, Idaho.
