Range. Aquarius Campground is a good local campground, and Clearwater River - North Fork is a splendid whitewater spot close by. This lake is so wonderful. If the weather is magnificent here at Mallard Lake, you can go for a hike along the Old Montana Trail, and the panorama of Mallard Peak is wonderful.

The local ski pioneers chose Lookout Pass because of the abundant snowfall and excellent snow quality which they could access by jumping on the Northern Pacific railcars as they proceeded east from the mining towns of Wallace and Mullan, Idaho.
