There's no such thing as a bad day of skiing at nearby Soldier Mountain Ski Resort; in the event that you don't mind getting dripping wet, you can always go whitewater paddling on Big Wood River. Lakes? Sure, Floyds Reservoir is in close proximity; the scenery at Dry Wash Dam       is beautiful. Summertime highs at Magpie Reservoir typically tend to be in the 80's, and during summer nights temperatures are in the 40's. Through the winter this place gets highs in the 20's with temperatures at Magpie Reservoir dipping down into the 0's through winter nights. Camas Creek is a good whitewater spot near Magpie Reservoir; a great site to camp here at Magpie Reservoir is Bridge Campground.
