     A normal amount of rainfall falls here at Mable Lakes; January is the wettest month with most snow; the driest month of the year is July. For the duration of the summer, highs commonly are in the 80's at Mable Lakes. Throughout the dark hours of summer temperatures descend down into the 40's. For the duration of the winter highs are generally in the 30's with temperatures at Mable Lakes dipping down into the 10's throughout winter nights. Mable Lakes is a beautiful  
   lake in the Sawtooth Range.
Mable Lakes beyond doubt is in the middle of a lovely outdoors paradise. The Bear Valley Creek Trail is a magnificent hiking trail in the neighborhood of Mable Lakes. You'll need more than a day to explore everything Mable Lakes has to offer, you can camp at Thatcher Creek Campground. A lake close by is Island Lake, and there are some brilliant whitewater spots on Marsh Creek. So many exciting things in the Sawtooth Range,
 
               just unbelievable.
Ruffneck Peak is a peak you can see from Mable Lakes; there's whitewater on Salmon River - Middle Fork for all you adrenaline kick people. Life's too short to enjoy all the cool things in the Sawtooth Range. Going for a hike on the Prospect Creek Trail is always a brilliant adventure, unsurprisingly you could also have a look at Ruffneck Lake since you're here; it's not far at all. This lake is so wonderful. Near Mable Lakes you find the Blue Bunch Trail which is a good hiking trail, and Mable Lakes is a great location to visit for more than one day, Lola Creek Campground is a great location to camp nearby.

Moderate uphill hike..couple of miles from road; classic rock wall mountain behind lake; nice place to backpack into..day trip or camp overnite; some wild life; hiked in here in summer and early spring when 1 - 2' of snow on ground (and melt was rushing down mountain side beneath snow...flowers growing in ground beneath crystal clear runoff (beneath snow...quite a site).Didn't catch any fish during August trips. Last time I was in there was the 1970's....
