Lookout Pass is a fine place to do that, and you get a nice panorama of Burke Summit from here. This lake is so wonderful. St. Joe River - Skookum Canyon has a splendid whitewater paddling spot nearby. This lake is located in the wonderful Bitterroot Range. Be careful coming to the Bitterroot Range, you might not ever want to go home again.
