Blackmare Lake
 | 16 miles away The trail to Blackmare Lake is in very poor shape. The fire last year weakened the trees and the wind took down many of them. There are several 24-36' logs across the trail preventing horse travel. Hikers can make the trek, but expect to be climbing over a lot of down timber. The trails themselves are not terrible, but they are very loose with decomposed granite sand. The other big problem with the trail is that past the signs at the first bridge, there is absolutely no direction as to where the trails will take you or how far you are along the trails. ... |
Brundage Mountain
 | 21 miles away 7 PHOTOS ...fluff. A mid-week visit to Brundage Mountain is all it takes to understand the resort's long-time claim that it is 'Uncrowded, Unspoiled, and Unbelievable'. Frequent visitors know it's easier to find a fresh line than a lift line at Brundage on a weekday. With an average of 325 inches of annual snowfall, the powder days are plentiful. Clear skies reveal sweeping views of Payette Lake & McCall off one crest, and endless mountain scenery reaching all the way to Oregon's Blue Mountains off the opposite side. The only challenge is deciding how long to savor the natural beauty before plunging back in for more terrific turns. Fortunately, with 1,800 vertical feet and more than 1,500 acres of in-bound terrain, there's plenty of time to enjoy both the snow and the spectacular scenery. Weekends and holidays are lively at Brundage Mountain. Visitors frequently enjoy live entertainment in ''Smoky's Pub'', our adults-only space which features weekly apres-ski entertainment and a big screen TV. Families will enjoy the convenient location of the drive up Kids Center, which offers a wide s... |
