    If you are in Elmore county it's always a good idea to stop by Lodgepole Lake. Summertime brings highs in the 80's to Lodgepole Lake, and the nighttime is fairly cooler of course, mostly in the 40's. The cold days of the wintertime come with highs in the 30's; winter nights come with lows in the 10's to Lodgepole Lake. This lake is so wonderful. Nearby lakes? Sure, Warrior Lakes is close to Lodgepole Lake; don't leave Lodgepole Lake without first going for a  
   hike along the Hot Springs Creek Trail. Graham Bridge Campground is a magnificent campground nearby, and there are delightful places to look at along the Black Warrior Creek Trail.

This is a great region for people who like lakes. Blue Jay Lake is a lake around here, and one of the major traits of the surroundings of Lodgepole Lake is Swanholm Peak. An average amount of rainfall falls at Lodgepole Lake; the month of January is the wettest with most of the snow; the driest of the months is July.

Elk lake is approximately 12 miles from the Grandjean campground. You can not reach it by car. The trail has mild elevation gain and parallels the river during many sections. There are no designated campgrounds at elk lake however 3 spots have obvious use. Deer and elk are commonly viewed near the lake, especially in the early morning or near dusk....
