    Go to Lick Lake if you want to go to a nice lake. This lake is located in the wonderful Salmon River Mountains. Life's too short to enjoy all the enjoyable stuff next to Lick Lake. Gotta ski! Brundage Mountain is a great site to do that; in case you don’t have a problem getting drenched, you can always go whitewater paddling on Salmon River - East Fork of South Fork. There's no way somebody can get bored here in the Salmon River Mountains.
Johnson Creek
 
   has a delightful whitewater paddling spot close by; the Cougar Basin Trail offers hiking at its best. The warmest time of the year brings highs in the 70's to Lick Lake. For the duration of the moonlight hours it's commonly in the 30's. Through the wintertime the highs are mostly in the 30's while the cold winter nights at Lick Lake are in the 0's. Lick Lake is a good place of normal precipitation; January is the month that gets the most snow; July is when  
               it's the driest.
So many amusing things to do in the Salmon River Mountains, not sufficient time. Why not take a refreshing hike along the Mule Hill Trail; if you came for an overnight stay Yellow Pine Campground is a nice place to camp. This lake is so wonderful. The peak of Cougar Peak can be seen from Lick Lake, and hiking is a popular thing to do around Lick Lake; Center Mountain Trail is a glorious local trail. Catherine Lake is a wonderful lake right next door to Lick Lake, and camping is available at Golden Gate Campground.
