    Knox Lake is a great lake in an area with lots of outdoors fun all around. Yeah, come up here to the Salmon River Mountains for a tremendous time. If you like skiing, you're in luck; Brundage Mountain is near Knox Lake; Cabin Peak is a peak you can spot from Knox Lake. During the summer months highs here at Knox Lake reach the 70's while overnight lows are mostly in the 30's. The wintertime comes with highs in the 30's, and after the sun is down through the  
   winter temperatures at Knox Lake sink into the 0's. A perfect place to camp here at Knox Lake is Summit Lake Campground, and if the weather is good, you can go for a hike along the Trout Creek Trail.
This lake is so wonderful. On a glorious day at Knox Lake you can take a hike along the Fourmile Creek Trail, and in the event that you don’t have a problem getting drenched, you can always go whitewater paddling on Salmon River - South Fork. From a rain point
 
               of view Knox Lake is a relatively typical location; of all the months in a year January is the one with the most snow while July is commonly the driest month. This lake is so wonderful.
Camping is available at Picnic Point Campground, and you're in all probability interested in lakes, Summit Lake is one of those nearby. And if that's not sufficient, there's plenty more to do right next door to Knox Lake. Nearby lakes? Sure, Roaring Lakes is near Knox Lake, and dry warm beds await you at Ashley Inn. Be careful coming to the Salmon River Mountains, you might not ever want to return home again. Johnson Creek is a glorious whitewater spot near Knox Lake, and there is a good hiking trail close by called the Burnt Log Trail.
This lake is one of the great places here in the Salmon River Mountains.

Blackmare Lake

The trail to Blackmare Lake is in very poor shape. The fire last year weakened the trees and the wind took down many of them. There are several 24-36' logs across the trail preventing horse travel. Hikers can make the trek, but expect to be climbing over a lot of down timber. The trails themselves are not terrible, but they are very loose with decomposed granite sand.
The other big problem with the trail is that past the signs at the first bridge, there is absolutely no direction as to where the trails will take you or how far you are along the trails. ...
