     Lakes? Sure, Caribou Lakes is in close proximity, and a great place for whitewater paddling is Smith Creek. Around Joe Lake you don’t get a lot of rainfall; most of the rain falls all through November, and the driest month is July. Throughout the days of summer at Joe Lake highs are typically in the 80's, and during the night it cools down to the 50's. Throughout the winter this place gets highs in the 30's while Joe Lake nighttime low temperatures through the  
   wintertime are in the 10's. Dirt Oven Campground is a perfect local campground, and if you like skiing, you're in luck; Schweitzer is quite near.
This lake is so wonderful. Not far from Joe Lake, you'll hit upon Hidden Lake which is a scenic lake, and you can run the rapids of Boundary Creek. A pleasant panorama of pretty Joe Peak is available from Joe Lake, and Joe Lake is a great place to visit for more than one day, Plowboy Campground is a great place to camp nearby. All the outdoors cool things close to Joe Lake will keep you coming back time and again.
