The beauty of James Lake is reason enough to stop by. This lake is so wonderful. Take a hike on the Batt Trail; James Lake is right by the Cedar Tree Trail. After a long day outdoors Oasis Ranch Motel is a wonderful place to spend a night or two, and whitewater paddling is pleasant on Bruneau River - West Fork. Why not take a refreshing hike along the Tindall Trail, and if you don't mind getting covered with water, you can always go whitewater paddling on Marys

At James Lake you don’t see much rainfall; of all the months in a year November is the one with the most rain, and July meanwhile is the driest month. Summertime brings highs in the 90's to James Lake, and through summer nights temperatures are in the 50's. During the winter highs are ordinarily in the 30's with temperatures at James Lake dipping down into the 20's throughout winter nights.
