One of the main traits of the surroundings of Iron Lake is Taylor Mountain, and on a good day you can take a hike along the Birch Creek Trail. Iron Lake is located in the Salmon River Mountains. Stay the night at Iron Lake Campground, and you can run the rapids of Salmon River.
