Good hiking is available along the Shin Point Trail, and Ice Lake is not the only place close by, Pete Ott Lake is a close by lake. Be careful coming to the Bitterroot Range, you might not ever want to go home again. Go for a hike on the Dead Mule Trail, obviously you could also stop at Cold Lake while you're here; it's not far at all.       Summertime highs at Ice Lake typically tend to be in the 80's. Once the sun is down it falls down to the 40's. Daytime highs during the winter are in the 30's, and winter nights come with lows in the 10's to Ice Lake. That right there is a load of entertaining things already but it goes on, the Bitterroot Range has it all. The Bitterroot Range scenery is always beautiful. This lake is so wonderful. You'll need more than a day to look at everything Ice Lake                  has to offer, you can camp at Hidden Creek Campground, and glide down the rapids of Kelly Creek in a kayak. Stay the night at Mush Campground, and paddling on Clearwater River - North Fork is so much fun. So many cool things right next door to Ice Lake, absolutely astonishing.
