Around Hourglass Lake you don’t get a lot of precipitation; the wettest month of the year is regularly December, that's the one that snows the most, and the driest month is July. This lake is so wonderful. If you want to take a look at some out of the ordinary stuff, take a look at Castle Peak; there's whitewater on Salmon River - Yankee Fork for all you adrenaline people. Take a       hike on the Yellow Belly Trail, and camping at Hourglass Lake is fine fun, Holman Creek Campground is a fine local campground. Whitewater paddling is not for everyone but if it's for you then we recommend Salmon River; probably you're looking for nearby lakes? Sure, Boulder Chain Lakes is just a very short distance away. Windy Devil is a great spot to take a look at close by, and a pleasant trip to Four Lakes Basin is a nice way to spend an afternoon. If                  you like skiing, you're in luck; Sun Valley is close to Hourglass Lake, and Clarion Inn Ketchum is a tremendous spot to get some rest. You just can't picture the amount of outdoors cool things the area next to Hourglass Lake has to offer. Some close by water includes Bighorn Creek, and Marshall Creek Campground is a great campground here. For the period of the summertime at Hourglass Lake highs are generally in the 70's with nighttime lows in the 30's. Throughout the winter this place gets highs in the 20's while Hourglass Lake overnight low temperatures throughout the wintertime are in the-10's. This lake is so wonderful.
