Whitewater paddling is not for everyone but if it's for you then we recommend Payette River - North Fork; if the weather is good, you can go for a hike along the Lava Butte Trail. Just can't get enough of the Salmon River Mountains. River Mountains scenery is always beautiful. If you want a pleasant time in the great outdoors, just come on down to Horton Lake. Ellis Lake is a perfect lake in close proximity to Horton Lake; Granite Lake Dam is a beautiful
site. This lake is so wonderful. Since you're here at Horton Lake why not have a look at Fisher Creek Saddle; the view of scenic Black Tip is pleasant. During the months of summer highs here at Horton Lake reach the 90's with overnight
lows in the 50's. For the period of the winter the highs are frequently in the 40's, and nighttime lows in the 20's for Horton Lake. Have a splendid hiking adventure along the Crestline Trail, and of course Lake Creek flows through
this vicinity. Around Horton Lake you don’t get a lot of rainfall; May is the wettest month with most rain, and July is when it's the driest.
