During the long summer days here at Horse Lake, high temperatures typically get into the 80's while nighttime lows are generally in the 50's. For the period of the wintertime highs are frequently in the 30's, and after the sun is down during the winter temperatures at Horse Lake descend into the 10's. Riverside Hot Springs Inn is a pleasant spot to get some rest, and don't leave Horse Lake without first going for       a hike along the Portneuf Presto Trail. Horse Lake is mostly a rather dry place; the month with most of the rain is May, and July is the month with the least moisture. Any time is a brilliant time at Horse Lake if you like the outdoors. Portneuf River has a great whitewater paddling spot close by. River's Edge is a good campground nearby, and Pebble Creek has pleasant slopes and a friendly staff. This lake is so wonderful. Nearby Blue Lake Gulch is a splendid                  location to go if you're at Horse Lake; Lava Ranch Inn Motel and Camp is a good local campground.
