Hjort Lake gets a typical amount of rainfall; the month of January is the wettest with most of the snow while July is commonly the driest month. That right there is plenty already, but it carries on; Hjort Lake has it all. Take a hike on the Anderson Butte National Recreation Trail, and there's whitewater on Lochsa River for all you adrenaline rush seekers. Man, is there plenty of cool       stuff to do in the Clearwater Mountains. The warmest time of the year brings highs in the 80's to Hjort Lake, and the night is fairly cooler of course, ordinarily in the 50's. The winter brings highs down to the 30's while Hjort Lake night low temperatures through the wintertime are in the 20's. This lake is so wonderful. From Hjort Lake you get a great panorama of The Crags, and close by you find perfect places like Jesse Pass. You just ought to like the                  Clearwater Mountains. A pleasant tour to Canteen Meadows is a great way to spend an afternoon, and Hjort Lake is right by the Meadow Creek National Recreation Trail. The Clearwater Mountains scenery is always beautiful. There are some great whitewater spots on Lochsa River, and Hjort Lake is perfect enough to spend more than a day at, Race Creek Campground is a perfect local campground.
