Heart Lake is a beautiful lake in the Bitterroot Range. Man, is there loads of cool stuff to do in the Bitterroot Range. Paddling on St. Joe River is so much fun, and going for a hike on the Dead Mule Trail is always a nice adventure. This lake is so wonderful. Some nearby water includes Elmer Creek; do have a look at Northbound Lake, it's a charming lake. A lovely lake like Crag Lake near Heart Lake is a great site to check out, and the panorama of gorgeous

| | Crag Peak is great. Go for a hike on the Old Montana Trail; Heart Lake is a great place to visit for more than one day, Sousie Creek Campground is a great place to camp nearby. From a rainfall point of view Heart Lake is a relatively normal location; through the month of January you get the most snow around here; July is the month with the least moisture. River - North Fork; Aquarius Campground is a good campground nearby. This lake is so wonderful. The warmest time of the year at Heart Lake comes with high temperatures in the 80's. Summer overnight lows fall down to the 40's. Throughout
the winter highs are usually in the 30's while the cold winter nights at Heart Lake are in the 20's. So much fun stuff to do here in the Bitterroot Range, too good to be true. There are brilliant locations to explore along the Shin Point Trail, and skiing at Lookout Pass is one of those things you just ought to do.

Lookout Pass

1935. The local ski pioneers chose Lookout Pass because of the abundant snowfall and excellent snow quality which they could access by jumping on the Northern Pacific railcars as they proceeded east from the mining towns of Wallace and Mullan, Idaho. These ski adventurers would hop off the railcars at the summit and utilize a highway storage shed as a warming hut
