On a delightful day at Heart Lake you can take a hike along the Ship Island Trail, and there are other locations here than Heart Lake, for example Harbor Lake. For the period of the summertime here at Heart Lake, high temperatures frequently reach the 80's, and all through summer nights temperatures are in the 40's. The cold days of the winter come with highs in the 20's while Heart Lake nighttime low temperatures throughout the wintertime       are in the 0's. Heart Lake is located in the Salmon River Mountains. Not much rain falls here at Heart Lake; the month of June is the wettest with most of the rain; the driest of the months is February. These mountains rock, just explore all the fun things to do in the Salmon River Mountains. A magnificent vista of scenic Mount McGuire is available from Heart Lake, and Crags Campground is a fine local campground. You think that's enough? Just getting warmed                  up. If you came for an overnight stay Yellowjacket Campground is a brilliant place to camp; nearby you come across the Clear Creek Trail which is a glorious hiking trail. You definitely have to fancy the Salmon River Mountains. In case you don’t mind getting wet, you can always go whitewater paddling on Camas Creek, and lakes are such serene places, why not pop by Welcome Lake.
