You can run the rapids of Salmon River close to Heart Lake; the landscape is dominated by the Sawtooth Range. This lake is so wonderful. While you're here at Heart Lake you can take a hike along the Yuba River Trail. This lake is one of the great places here in the Sawtooth Range. Through the summer months, highs usually are in the 80's at Heart Lake; the night is fairly cooler       of course, mostly in the 40's. Daytime highs all through the wintertime are in the 30's; overnight lows in the 10's for Heart Lake. You just have to fancy Heart Lake. Very stunning scenery and glorious skiing is what you get at Soldier Mountain Ski Resort. Lakes? Sure, Vernon Lake is close by. Camping is available at Smoky Bear Campground, and hiking along the Bull Moose Trail is great fun. If you want a splendid time in the great outdoors just come on up to                  the Sawtooth Range. Going for a hike along the Yellow Belly Trail will let you absorb the natural beauty of this area; since you might be in a lake visiting mood you can always pop by nearby Camp Lake. Flytrip Creek is one of the streams nearby that might be worth taking a look at; a perfect spot for whitewater paddling is Salmon River. The amount of rainfall that falls at Heart Lake is close to the national average; of all the months in a year January is the one with the most snow, and July is when it's the driest. This lake is so wonderful.
