This lake is so wonderful. Hawkins Reservoir is nice enough to spend more than a day at, Scout Mountain Campground is a nice local campground, and not far from Hawkins Reservoir you acquire some great water scenery at Hawkins Dam. Hawkins Reservoir gets very little rainfall; the month with most of the rain is May, and the driest of the months is July. Through the days of summer here at Hawkins Reservoir, high temperatures       commonly get into the 80's, and the nighttime is a bit chillier of course, frequently in the 50's. For the period of the winter highs are in the 30's, and after the sun is down through the winter temperatures at Hawkins Reservoir fall into the 10's. Drift down the rapids of Portneuf River in a kayak, and after a long day outdoors Rodeway Inn University is a brilliant place to spend a night or two. That right there is a heap already, but it carries on; Hawkins                  Reservoir has it all. At Hawkins Reservoir you always meet someone from Pocatello. There's so much to do here at Hawkins Reservoir that you need to camp here for a while, Summit Campground is a good place for that. Take a side visit to Deadwood Creek, and if you need a place to stay TownePlace Suites by Marriott Pocatello is a pleasant choice.
