This lake is so wonderful. Hiking is a popular thing to do around Goat Lake; Meadow Creek National Recreation Trail is a glorious local trail, and if the weather is lovely, you get a fine sight of Square Rock from Goat Lake. Summertime highs at Goat Lake typically tend to be in the 80's. Throughout the dark hours of summer temperatures descend down into the 50's. During the winter       highs are frequently in the 30's, and through the dark hours in the wintertime at Goat Lake temperatures drop to the 20's. There's no way anyone can get bored here in the Clearwater Mountains. Lakes? Sure, Square Rock Lake is in close proximity, and if you came to camp Poet Creek Campground is a great place to do that. An average amount of rain falls at Goat Lake; the month with most of the snow is January while July is regularly the driest month. So much                  exciting stuff to do in the Clearwater Mountains, not sufficient time. Go for a hike on the Nez Perce Trail; whitewater paddling is great on Moose Creek. Good hiking is available along the Old Nez Perce Indian Trail, and in case you don’t have a problem getting dripping wet, you can always go whitewater paddling on Selway River. And if that's not sufficient, there's a heap more to do close to Goat Lake. There are other places here than Goat Lake, for example Mud Lake. There's so much to do here at Goat Lake that you need to camp here for a while, Cedar Flats Campground is a magnificent spot for that.
