Do stop by Gnat Lake while you're in this part of Idaho. This lake is so wonderful. Camping is available at Aquarius Campground, and Clearwater River - North Fork is a great whitewater spot nearby. Gnat Lake gets a normal amount of precipitation; January is the wettest month with most snow while July is regularly the driest month. Going for a hike on the Old Montana Trail is always a pleasant adventure, and in case you don’t have a problem getting dripping wet,

| | you can always go whitewater paddling on St. Joe River. High temperatures at Gnat Lake during the summer are in the 80's. Once the sun is down it falls down to the 40's. Highs through the wintertime are usually in the 30's, and after the sun is down during the winter temperatures at Gnat Lake descend into the 20's. camp, and there are other sites here than Gnat Lake, for example Hero Lake. This lake is so wonderful. The top of Crag Peak is easily distinguished from Gnat Lake, and skiing at Lookout Pass is one of those things you just should
do. This lake is one of the great places here in the Bitterroot Range. If you want a perfect time in the great outdoors, just come on down to Gnat Lake. There is a magnificent hiking trail close to Gnat Lake called the Dead Mule Trail,
and Crag Lake is a great lake nearby. But wait, there's more exciting stuff to do in the Bitterroot Range. There are tremendous sites to explore along the Shin Point Trail, and why not a little side trip to Cataract Creek.
