If you are in Idaho county it's always a good idea to stop by Gay Lake. If you want a great time in the great outdoors just come on up to the Salmon River Mountains. You simply must go to Devils Ladder while you're here at Gay Lake; there's perfect hiking along the Heavens Gate Trail. This lake is so wonderful. There's whitewater on Little Salmon River for all you thrill seekers; after a long day outdoors Pinehurst Resort is a fine site to spend a night or two.

| | During the warm days of summer, highs generally are in the 90's at Gay Lake. Through the moonlight hours it's commonly in the 50's. High temperatures all through the winter are normally in the 40's, and overnight lows throughout the winter for Gay Lake tend to be in the 20's.

to camp Allison Creek Campground is a fine place to do that; if you need a place to stay Best Western Salmon Rapids Lodge is a wonderful choice. Gay Lake is not the only location nearby, Elk Lake is a nearby lake, and don't leave
Gay Lake without first going for a hike along the Lava Butte Trail.
Gay Lake is nice enough to spend more than a day at, State Campground Recreation Site is a nice local campground; get your heart beating on the magnificent whitewater
of Hazard Creek. This lake is so wonderful. These mountains rock, just check out all the fun stuff to do in the Salmon River Mountains. Good hiking is available along the Broken Leg Trail; since you're here at Gay Lake it's a splendid idea to go to Devils Hole.
