And if that's not sufficient there's loads more exciting stuff to do in the Salmon River Mountains. Not far from Gay Lake, you'll find Piper Lake which is a wonderful lake, and after a long day outdoors Best Western Salmon Rapids Lodge is a pleasant place to spend a night or two. For the period of       the summer months, highs regularly are in the 90's at Gay Lake, and through the night it cools down to the 50's. Through the wintertime the highs are frequently in the 40's, and nighttime lows in the 20's for Gay Lake. Now, you may assume that's a lot but there's even more fun stuff to do here in the Salmon River Mountains. There's fine hiking along the Broken Leg Trail. Lakes are great; Mary Lake is a lake that's near Gay Lake. This lake is one of the great places here in the Salmon River Mountains. Just can't get enough of Gay Lake. Soar down the rapids of Hazard Creek in a kayak, and if you came to camp Canyon Pines RV Resort is a glorious place to do that. This lake is so wonderful. The Heavens Gate Trail offers hiking at its best. Gay Lake is commonly a reasonably dry site; all through the month of May you get the most rain around here, and the driest month of the year is July. This lake is so wonderful.
