    If you are in Idaho county it's always a good idea to stop by Frog Pond. This lake is one of the great places here in the Salmon River Mountains. You assume that's enough? Just getting warmed up. There is a good hiking trail close to Frog Pond called the Center Mountain Trail. Frog Pond gets a normal amount of yearly rain; throughout the month of January you get the most snow around here; the driest month of the year is July.
That right there is loads of
 
   exciting stuff already but it goes on, the Salmon River Mountains has it all. In the event that you don’t have a problem getting covered with water, you can always go whitewater paddling on Salmon River. There's so much to do here at Frog Pond that you need to camp here for a while, Big Mallard Creek Campground is a pleasant place for that. If the weather is perfect here at Frog Pond, you can go for a hike along the Three Blaze Trail; if you've had enough of  
               Frog Pond, Frog Lake is nearby. Lower Trout Creek Meadows is a stunning place any time of year; you can stay the night at Whitewater Campground.
At Frog Pond through the warmest time of the year highs are in the 70's with nighttime lows in the 30's. Daytime highs through the winter are in the 20's while the cold winter nights at Frog Pond are in the 0's. This lake is so wonderful. On a good day at Frog Pond you can take a hike along the Chamberlain Trail, as expected you could also pop by Flossie Lake since you're here; it's not far at all.

Red River Campground is in a fairly open flat area with a? creek suitable for bathing running through it. Also fire pits, outhouses and sites spaced far apart for adequate privacy. Some sites have a tree or two nearby for shade....
