Mammouth Springs Campground is a good local campground, and why not take a refreshing hike along the Dead Mule Trail. The amount of rainfall that falls at Fawn Lake is close to the national average; the wettest month of the year is commonly January, that's the one that snows the most; July meanwhile is the driest month. like Greenie Creek, of course you could also have a look at Skyland Lake since you're here; it's not far at all. Just can't get enough of the Bitterroot Range. A great site for whitewater paddling near Fawn Lake is Clearwater River
- North Fork, and the peak of Mallard Peak can be seen from Fawn Lake. And if that's not enough there's a load more entertaining stuff to do in the Bitterroot Range. Hiking along the Old Montana Trail is pleasant fun, and if you don’t
have a problem getting soaked, you can always go whitewater paddling on St. Joe River. So much entertaining stuff in close proximity to Fawn Lake, truly phenomenal. If you came for an overnight stay Aquarius Campground is a magnificent site to camp, and Martin Peak is rather close.

Lookout Pass
 | 26 miles away 1 PHOTO Lookout Pass is the original Idaho ski area having documented skiing and a home made rope tow in
1935. The local ski pioneers chose Lookout Pass because of the abundant snowfall and excellent snow quality which they could access by jumping on the Northern Pacific railcars as they proceeded east from the mining towns of Wallace and Mullan, Idaho. These ski adventurers would hop off the railcars at the summit and utilize a highway storage shed as a warming hut
that they nicknamed ''Buzzards Roost''. Lookout Pass has operated every winter season since 1935 and has a
reputation for legendary powder, earliest openings, and longest season in the region. Average snowfall is 400'' of light Northern Rockies snow. The ''Affordable Family Ski Area'' has recently received a major expansion approval and has initiated the first three phases of a five phase Master Development Plan.... |
