If you like lakes and you're in this part of Idaho you can check out Elk Lake. There's delightful hiking along the Lava Butte Trail, and camping is available at Hazard Campground. Hiking is a popular thing to do around Elk Lake; Broken Leg Trail is a good local trail, and everyone loves Devils Hole. This lake is located in the wonderful Salmon River Mountains.

| | getting dripping wet, you can always go whitewater paddling on Little Salmon River; why not take a refreshing hike along the Heavens Gate Trail. So much entertaining stuff to do in the Salmon River Mountains, not sufficient time. Western Mountain Lodge is a magnificent site to get some rest. For the period of the warm days of summer at Elk Lake highs are generally in the 90's. For the duration of the dark hours of summer temperatures fall down into the 50's. | |

Daytime highs during the winter are in the 40's while Elk Lake nighttime low temperatures through the wintertime are in the 20's.
Elk Lake gets very little rain; through May this area sees the most rain while July is the month
with the least amount of precipitation. Just can't get enough of Elk Lake. If you get bored of Elk Lake, you could also stop by close by Gay Lake; a tremendous spot to camp here at Elk Lake is State Campground Recreation Site. This
lake is so wonderful. Whitewater paddling is good on Hazard Creek, and if you need a location to stay Best Western Salmon Rapids Lodge is a good choice.
