At Elk Lake throughout the summertime months highs are in the 70's while overnight lows are ordinarily in the 30's. High temperatures during the winter are normally in the 20's; all through the dark hours in the winter at Elk Lake temperatures fall to the-10's. The beauty of mother nature reveals herself at Sunbeam Hot Springs, and a wonderful forest nearby is Challis National Forest. This lake is so wonderful. If the       weather is glorious here at Elk Lake, you can go for a hike along the Bull Moose Trail, and camping at Elk Lake is magnificent fun, Dutchman Flat Campground is a magnificent local campground. Everybody close by loves skiing at Sun Valley. This is no place for people who don’t like to have a good time. Lookout Mountain is a peak you can catch a glimpse of from Elk Lake, and whitewater paddling is good on Salmon River. Looking for some flowing water? Try                  Blind Creek; Blind Creek Campground is a brilliant campground here. The Yellow Belly Trail is a nice hiking trail in close proximity to Elk Lake, and nearby you stumble on Prospect Point.
