If you like lakes and you're in this part of Idaho you can check out Elk Lake. Prospect Point is next to Elk Lake and is a great location to have a look at, and if the weather is lovely, you get a pleasant panorama of Lookout Mountain from Elk Lake. Skiing at Sun Valley is one of those things you just should do, and Rough Lake is a great lake close by. Around Elk Lake you don’t get a lot of precipitation; December is when you get the most snow here while July is
the month with the least amount of precipitation.
Get yourself into a kayak and hit Salmon River, and lakes are such serene sites, why not explore Garland Lakes. Summertime highs at Elk Lake typically tend to be in the 70's. Throughout the moonlight hours it's ordinarily in the 30's. The wintertime comes with highs in the 20's, and during the dark hours in the winter at Elk Lake temperatures dip to the-10's. This lake is so wonderful. Challis National Forest is

               a tremendous local forest.
You'll need more than a day to look at everything Elk Lake has to offer, you can camp at Dutchman Flat Campground, and Elk Lake is right by the Yellow Belly Trail. This lake is so wonderful. It's always brilliant to go to Sunbeam Hot Springs, and unsurprisingly Blind Creek flows through this vicinity. You believe that's enough? Just getting warmed up. Why not take a refreshing hike along the Bull Moose Trail. There's so much to do here at Elk Lake that you need to camp here for a while, Blind Creek Campground is a great place for that.

Hell Roaring Lake

Hi, we (wife and I) walked into the lake the 3rd week of July 2008; we took the unmaintained road to about 200 yards from the trailhead. If you take this in lieu of the walk in, plan on a 40 minute drive to cover 5-miles; your vehicle (should be high-center 4-wd) will get scratched up from the branches adjacent to the road. The parking lot holds 6-vehicles...if you encounter another vehicle coming at you, there are very few areas where you can back into/get off the road to let the other pass; it is a 'long way' to back up on a challenging road. To get to the trail head from the parking lot, you will ford 2-branches of the river/stream (10 ? 20? across)...walk across deadfall with the aid of a walking stick...or walk thru the water...just below the knee. We walked in on a tuesday and encountered 15+ people coming/going on the path. Easy 2-mile walk, many mosquitoes...quicker coming back....
