In Idaho there are many beautiful lakes, Edith Lake is one of them. Just can't get enough of the Sawtooth Range. Going for a hike on the Yellow Belly Trail is always a wonderful adventure, and whitewater paddling is not for everyone but if it's for you then, we recommend Salmon River. There are great sites to look at along the Yuba River Trail, needless to say you could also go to Toxaway Lake while you're here; it's not far at all. The warmest time of the year

The wintertime brings highs down to the 30's while Edith Lake overnight low temperatures during the wintertime are in the 10's. This lake is so wonderful. What would winter be without some skiing at Soldier Mountain Ski Resort, and nearby you hit upon the Bull Moose Trail which is a tremendous hiking trail. Edith Lake is a good place of typical rain; of all | |

the months in a year January is the one with the most snow while July is frequently the driest month. If only every place had this much outdoors entertaining things, what a great planet it would be. There's so much to do here at Edith
Lake that you need to camp here for a while, Smoky Bear Campground is a fine site for that, and the summit of Parks Peak can be spotted from Edith Lake. And if that's not enough there's a lot more fun things to do in the Sawtooth
Range. You'll need more than a day to discover everything Edith Lake has to offer, you can camp at Alturas Inlet Campground, and a lake close by is Bowknot Lake. Edith Lake is one of the lakes here in the Sawtooth Range.

Imogene Lake
 | Imogene is a beautiful lake with a complex shoreline, worthy of hours of exploration, as are its family of 15 lakes and pools downstream from it.... |
Hell Roaring Lake
 | Hi, we (wife and I) walked into the lake the 3rd week of July 2008; we took the unmaintained road to about 200 yards from the trailhead. If you take this in lieu of the walk in, plan on a 40 minute drive to cover 5-miles; your vehicle (should be high-center 4-wd) will get scratched up from the branches adjacent to the road. The parking lot holds 6-vehicles...if you encounter another vehicle coming at you, there are very few areas where you can back into/get off the road to let the other pass; it is a 'long way' to back up on a challenging road. To get to the trail head from the parking lot, you will ford 2-branches of the river/stream (10 ? 20? across)...walk across deadfall with the aid of a walking stick...or walk thru the water...just below the knee. We walked in on a tuesday and encountered 15+ people coming/going on the path. Easy 2-mile walk, many mosquitoes...quicker coming back.... |
Elk Lake
 | Elk lake is approximately 12 miles from the Grandjean campground. You can not reach it by car. The trail has mild elevation gain and parallels the river during many sections. There are no designated campgrounds at elk lake however 3 spots have obvious use. Deer and elk are commonly viewed near the lake, especially in the early morning or near dusk.... |
