This lake is located in the wonderful Salmon River Mountains. Yellowjacket Campground is a brilliant local campground, and there's pleasant hiking along the Ship Island Trail. Echo Lake is a location that is pretty arid usually; through June this area sees the most rain; the driest of the months is February. That right there is a lot already, but it keeps on going; Echo Lake has it all. Puddin       Mountain is a peak you can see from Echo Lake; don't leave Echo Lake without first going for a hike along the South Fork Trail. Man, is there a lot of fun stuff to do in the Salmon River Mountains. In the event that you don’t have a problem getting dripping wet, you can always go whitewater paddling on Panther Creek, naturally you could also check out Terrace Lakes while you're here; it's not far at all. Echo Lake is a glorious place to visit for more than                  one day, Crags Campground is a glorious place to camp nearby, and Echo Lake is not the only place close by, Ramshorn Lake is a close by lake. So much entertaining stuff to do here in the Salmon River Mountains, too pleasant to be true. For the duration of the long summer days here at Echo Lake, high temperatures regularly reach the 80's, and during the night it cools down to the 40's. Throughout the wintertime highs are typically in the 20's while Echo Lake overnight low temperatures during the wintertime are in the 0's. This lake is so wonderful.
