Not enough hours in a day to enjoy this site. Pitkin Dam has splendid water scenery and it's close to East Mountain Reservoir, and golf can be played at Cascade Golf Course. East Mountain Reservoir is located in the Salmon River Mountains. Just can't get enough of the Salmon River Mountains. After a long day outdoors Super 8 McCall is a good place to spend a night or two, and there are wonderful sites to look at along the Skunk Creek Trail. This lake is so wonderful. Payette River - Middle Fork has a delightful whitewater paddling spot nearby, and East Mountain Reservoir is a good place to visit for more than one day, Clear Creek Inn is a good place to camp nearby.

there is to do here in the Salmon River Mountains. In the event that you don’t have a problem getting wet, you can always go whitewater paddling on Payette River - North Fork, and brilliant hiking is available along the Bear Wallow
Trail. Ashley Inn is a fine place to get some rest; swing by Ditch Creek it's a glorious place to explore. For the duration of the long summer days highs here at East Mountain Reservoir get into the 80's with overnight lows in the
40's. The wintertime comes with highs in the 20's, and after the sun is down during the winter temperatures at East Mountain Reservoir drop into the 10's.
East Mountain Reservoir is pretty dried up typically; December is when
you get the most snow here while July is frequently the driest month. This lake is so wonderful. Not far from East Mountain Reservoir, you'll discover Warren Pond which is a lovely lake, and you can go for a hike on the Sixmile Trail.

| Are there any guided rafting trips on this stretch of the river??...Don`t forget the take out is just south of the old sheep bridge in Smiths Ferry where you can park your car in a park like setting. Rest rooms are clean and a nice place to unwind after great day of paddling.... |
Wilson Creek Trail

I didn't hike this trail myself but someone in our party met us in middle fork by this route,they said the trail fizzles out half way down because it was too close to the stream and the flash floods have washed it out. They did however state that if you are looking for bear that is very possible to locate since they ran into two different ones feeding near the stream. The trail is more like a rock trail as you get nearer to the Middle fork. Seems sad to think about it now since we are only 50 years away from the time that folks were packing in and farming on the alluvial grades of the middle fork.... |

Having stayed 2 full months in the Crouch Merc Trailer and RV Park, I highly recomend this for a summer stay. You'll be right on the bank of the middle fork of the Payette River. On the 4th of July, you'll have the best view of the fireworks display, which is in the park across the river. Great people, great small town attitudes, everyone makes you feel welcome. Float the river, guided horse back tours, outdoor theatre with an old fashioned wagon ride, live music, lots of fun. All you need is right in town. Come enjoy for a weekend, what we live with year 'round!... |

Hmmmm. According to Google Earth and Topo maps, there should be a place called Mud Lake by Dry Buck Mountain. However, all I can find is a clearing for logging. Did they cover it over? Hmmm strange.... |
