So much exciting stuff to do at East Basin Lake, so little time. While you're here at East Basin Lake you can take a hike along the Bull Moose Trail. Be careful coming to the Salmon River Mountains, you might not ever want to go back home again. If the weather is good here at East Basin Lake, you can go for a hike along the Yellow Belly Trail, and there are some pleasant whitewater spots on Salmon River. A great nearby

hotel is SnowRun by ResortQuest; whitewater paddling is not for everyone but if it's for you then, we recommend Salmon River - Yankee Fork.
This lake is so wonderful. If you came for an overnight stay Basin Creek Campground is a great location to camp, and East Basin Lake is not the only location close by, Pinyon Lake is a close by lake. East Basin Lake is pretty dried out mostly; all through the month of December you get the most snow around here; July on the other hand is the driest.

Hell Roaring Lake
18 miles away
Hi, we (wife and I) walked into the lake the 3rd week of July 2008; we took the unmaintained road to about 200 yards from the trailhead. If you take this in lieu of the walk in, plan on a 40 minute drive to cover 5-miles; your vehicle (should be high-center 4-wd) will get scratched up from the branches adjacent to the road. The parking lot holds 6-vehicles...if you encounter another vehicle coming at you, there are very few areas where you can back into/get off the road to let the other pass; it is a 'long way' to back up on a challenging road. To get to the trail head from the parking lot, you will ford 2-branches of the river/stream (10 ? 20? across)...walk across deadfall with the aid of a walking stick...or walk thru the water...just below the knee. We walked in on a tuesday and encountered 15+ people coming/going on the path. Easy 2-mile walk, many mosquitoes...quicker coming back....

Imogene is a beautiful lake with a complex shoreline, worthy of hours of exploration, as are its family of 15 lakes and pools downstream from it....
