    Dutch Lake is a great lake in an area with lots of outdoors fun all around. But wait, there's more cool things to do in the Sawtooth Range. Why not take a refreshing hike along the Blue Bunch Trail; Salmon River - Middle Fork is a good whitewater spot nearby. This place, Dutch Lake, it completely has so much outdoors fun stuff. You're possibly keen on lakes, Swamp Lake is one of those close by, and a pleasant panorama of picturesque Copper Mountain is available.  
   At Dutch Lake through the days of summer highs are in the 80's. Summer night lows dip down to the 40's. Throughout the wintertime this place gets highs in the 30's; winter nights come with lows in the 10's to Dutch Lake.
This lake is one of the great places here in the Sawtooth Range. This is a delightful vicinity for folks who like lakes. Newman Lake is a lake nearby. You'll need more than a day to discover everything Dutch Lake has to offer, you can
 
               camp at Lola Creek Campground. Dutch Lake gets a typical amount of annual precipitation; January is the month that gets the most snow, and July is when it's the driest.
Not enough hours in a day to enjoy the Sawtooth Range. Hiking is a popular thing to do around Dutch Lake; Bear Valley Creek Trail is a glorious local trail, and a glorious location for whitewater paddling is Marsh Creek. This lake is so wonderful. Take a hike on the Camptender Trail, and you can stay the night at Thatcher Creek Campground.

Moderate uphill hike..couple of miles from road; classic rock wall mountain behind lake; nice place to backpack into..day trip or camp overnite; some wild life; hiked in here in summer and early spring when 1 - 2' of snow on ground (and melt was rushing down mountain side beneath snow...flowers growing in ground beneath crystal clear runoff (beneath snow...quite a site).Didn't catch any fish during August trips. Last time I was in there was the 1970's....

Elk Lake

Elk lake is approximately 12 miles from the Grandjean campground. You can not reach it by car. The trail has mild elevation gain and parallels the river during many sections. There are no designated campgrounds at elk lake however 3 spots have obvious use. Deer and elk are commonly viewed near the lake, especially in the early morning or near dusk....
