If you like lakes and you're in this part of Idaho you can check out Devils Lake. The Clearwater Mountains scenery is always beautiful. Throughout the warmest time of the year, highs typically are in the 80's at Devils Lake, and during summer nights temperatures are in the 40's. Daytime highs throughout the wintertime are in the 30's; nighttime lows at Devils Lake during the winter frequently plunge into the 20's. Devils Lake is a good location of normal precipitation;

and gorgeous scenery and good skiing is what you get at Lookout Pass. Going for a hike on the Shin Point Trail is always a wonderful adventure, and a lake nearby is Larkins Lake. This lake is so wonderful. Camping is available
at Mammouth Springs Campground, and a nice place for whitewater paddling is St. Joe River - Skookum Canyon. Life's too short to enjoy all the entertaining things in the Clearwater Mountains. Near Devils Lake you find the Dead Mule
Trail which is a tremendous hiking trail, and get your heart pumping on the splendid whitewater of Clearwater River - North Fork. There is a brilliant hiking trail near Devils Lake called the Old Montana Trail, and Blue Lake is a nearby lake that you could take a look at.

The local ski pioneers chose Lookout Pass because of the abundant snowfall and excellent snow quality which they could access by jumping on the Northern Pacific railcars as they proceeded east from the mining towns of Wallace and Mullan, Idaho.
