Deer Lake gets very little precipitation; June is the wettest month with most rain, and February is when it's the driest. Having a great time in the Salmon River Mountains is simple. Go for a hike on the Gant Ridge Trail; Deer Lake is wonderful enough to spend more than a day at, Crags Campground is a wonderful local campground. There's whitewater on Panther Creek for all you adrenaline       kick people, and camping at Yellowjacket Campground is always a great experience. Don't leave Deer Lake without first going for a hike along the Clear Creek Trail. This lake is so wonderful. Good hiking is available along the Crags Trail; you can run the rapids of Panther Creek. All through the long summer days at Deer Lake temperatures are frequently in the 80's. Once the sun is down it descends down to the 40's. The wintertime brings highs down to the                  20's while Deer Lake nighttime low temperatures through the winter are in the 0's.
