    Cutthroat Lake is a great lake in an area with lots of outdoors fun all around. A typical amount of rainfall falls here at Cutthroat Lake; January is the month that gets the most snow while July is regularly the driest month. Whohoo, so much amusing stuff in one place! The Salmon River Mountains is peerless! The snow is splendid at Brundage Mountain, and going for a hike on the Blue Bunch Trail is always a magnificent adventure. You just can't envision the amount  
   of outdoors entertaining stuff the Salmon River Mountains has to offer.
You'll wish for more hours in a day to enjoy all the enjoyable things at Cutthroat Lake. Camping is available at Sheepeater Hot Springs Campground, and a glorious place for whitewater paddling is Marsh Creek. Why not camp at Velvet Falls Campground since you're here at Cutthroat Lake, and you can go for a hike on the Prospect Creek Trail. This lake is so wonderful. You're probably
 
               into lakes, Iris Lake is one of those close by, and Salmon River - Middle Fork is a perfect whitewater spot nearby.
Cutthroat Lake is one of the lakes here in the Salmon River Mountains. Through the warm months, highs mostly are in the 80's at Cutthroat Lake, and during summer nights temperatures are in the 40's. Through the winter highs are in the 30's, and after the sun is down through the wintertime temperatures at Cutthroat Lake sink into the 10's. Looking for something next to Cutthroat Lake? Soldier Lakes is nearby; there is a perfect hiking trail nearby called the Bear Valley Creek Trail.

Moderate uphill hike..couple of miles from road; classic rock wall mountain behind lake; nice place to backpack into..day trip or camp overnite; some wild life; hiked in here in summer and early spring when 1 - 2' of snow on ground (and melt was rushing down mountain side beneath snow...flowers growing in ground beneath crystal clear runoff (beneath snow...quite a site).Didn't catch any fish during August trips. Last time I was in there was the 1970's....
