The Salmon River Mountains scenery is always beautiful. From a rainfall point of view Cottonwood Lake is a pretty normal location; January is the month that gets the most snow, and July on the other hand is the driest. Now, you may believe that's loads but there's even more enjoyable things to do here in the Salmon River Mountains. Hiking is a popular thing to do around Cottonwood Lake; Farrow       Mountain Trail is a good local trail, and Cottonwood Lake is nice enough to spend more than a day at, Papoose Creek Campground is a nice local campground. This lake is so wonderful. Why not take a refreshing hike along the Black Butte Trail, and probably you're looking for close by lakes? Sure, Stoddard Lake is just a very short distance away. You'll wish for more hours in a day to enjoy all the enjoyable things at Cottonwood Lake. Camping at Parrot Placer                  Campground is always a great experience; do take a hike on the Coyote Springs Trail. High temperatures at Cottonwood Lake during the summertime months are in the 70's, and throughout summer nights temperatures are in the 30's. High temperatures through the wintertime are normally in the 20's, and during the dark hours in the wintertime at Cottonwood Lake temperatures sink to the 0's. Whohoo, so many exciting things in one place! The Salmon River Mountains rules!. Paddling on Monumental Creek is so much fun, as expected you could also stop by Basin Lake while you're here; it's not far at all.
