    Chilcoot Lake is a very beautiful lake in beautiful surroundings. Life's too short to enjoy all the enjoyable things close to Chilcoot Lake. You can see Chilcoot Peak from Chilcoot Lake, of course you could also stop at Pistol Lake while you're here; it's not far at all. While you're here at Chilcoot Lake you can take a hike along the Indian Creek Trail, and dry warm beds await you at Ashley Inn. And if that's not sufficient there's loads more amusing stuff  
   to do in the Salmon River Mountains. A tour to Chilcoot Pass is always fun, and the best way to spend a winter day is on the slopes of close by Brundage Mountain.
This lake is so wonderful. There is a brilliant hiking trail near Chilcoot Lake called the McClure Trail. All through the summer months at Chilcoot Lake highs are mostly in the 70's, and the overnight is somewhat chillier of course, frequently in the 30's. Through the winter highs are commonly in
 
               the 30's while Chilcoot Lake nighttime low temperatures through the winter are in the 0's. Now, you may assume that's a load but there's even more fun things to do here in the Salmon River Mountains. Chilcoot Lake is a great spot to visit for more than one day, Ice Hole Campground is a great spot to camp nearby, and if you're here at Chilcoot Lake it's a good idea to have a look at Upper Trapper Flat.
Chilcoot Lake is not the only place nearby, Black Lake is a nearby lake, and on a pleasant day you can take a hike along the Buck Creek Trail. This lake is so wonderful. In the event that you don't mind getting drenched, you can always go whitewater paddling on Johnson Creek, and Twin Bridges Campground is a splendid campground nearby. Chilcoot Lake is one of the lakes here in the Salmon River Mountains.
A normal amount of precipitation falls here at Chilcoot Lake; January is the month that gets the most snow while July is the month with the least amount of precipitation.
