Chilcoot Lake is a great lake in an area with lots of outdoors fun all around. The annual precipitation here at Chilcoot Lake is about average; throughout the month of January you get the most snow around here; the driest month is July. This lake is one of the great places here in the Salmon River Mountains. This lake is so wonderful. There is a wonderful hiking trail close to Chilcoot Lake called the Indian Creek Trail. Do set aside some time for Upper Trapper Flat since you're here at Chilcoot Lake. At Chilcoot Lake you can see Chilcoot Peak, and if you need a place to stay Ashley Inn is a good choice. a splendid place to check out close to Chilcoot Lake, and going for a hike on the McClure Trail is always a great adventure. Summertime brings highs in the 70's to Chilcoot Lake. When the night sets in temperatures dip down into
the 30's. Throughout the winter highs are in the 30's, and night lows at Chilcoot Lake throughout the winter frequently sink into the 0's. The skiing at Brundage Mountain is nice, and close by you locate the Buck Creek Trail which
is a glorious hiking trail. Life's too short to enjoy all the cool stuff in the Salmon River Mountains. Chilcoot Lake is great enough to spend more than a day at, Ice Hole Campground is a great local campground, and in the event that you don't mind getting dripping wet, you can always go whitewater paddling on Johnson Creek.
