    Many people like to go to Caton Lake. This lake is located in the wonderful Salmon River Mountains. This lake is so wonderful. Dry warm beds await you at Mccall Super 8 Lodge, and on a magnificent day you can take a hike along the Buck Creek Trail. Be careful coming to the Salmon River Mountains, you might not ever want to return home again. Stay the night at Golden Gate Campground, and a tremendous place for whitewater paddling is Johnson Creek.
Summertime
 
   highs at Caton Lake usually tend to be in the 70's. When the night sets in temperatures plunge down into the 30's. The wintertime brings highs down to the 30's while Caton Lake overnight low temperatures during the winter are in the 0's. You just ought to go for Caton Lake. Some close by water includes North Fork Riordan Creek, and if you're here you can take a hike along the Indian Creek Trail. Have a good hiking adventure along the Big Chief Creek Trail. Lakes  
               are perfect; Riordan Lake is a lake that's next to Caton Lake.
In case you don’t mind getting wet, you can always go whitewater paddling on Salmon River - East Fork of South Fork, and why not head up to Brundage Mountain and strap some skis to your feet. That right there is a lot of enjoyable stuff already but it goes on, the Salmon River Mountains has it all. There's so much to do here at Caton Lake that you need to camp here for a while, Ice Hole Campground is a good site for that. The yearly rainfall here at Caton Lake is about average; of all the months in a year January is the one with the most snow; the driest month of the year is July.
