Why not stop by Castle Lake if you're passing through these parts. Some of the water nearby flows, like Elk Flat Fork, and there's no such thing as a bad day of skiing at close by Kelly Canyon. This lake is so wonderful. While you're here at Castle Lake you can take a hike along the De Coster Trail, and Castle Lake is great enough to spend more than a day at, Sandy Mite Fly Shop and Cafe is a great local campground. while Castle Lake overnight low temperatures during the wintertime are in the 0's. Thunder Mountain can be spotted from Castle Lake; in the event that you don’t have a problem getting soaked, you can always go whitewater paddling
on Snake River - South Fork. All the outdoors exciting stuff in the neighborhood of Castle Lake will keep you coming back many times. If you came to camp Pine Creek Campground is a great place to do that; Pine Creek is a tremendous whitewater spot nearby.
