     High temperatures at Bull Trout Lake all through the summer months are in the 80's. During the moonlight hours it's usually in the 40's. The wintertime comes with highs in the 30's while Bull Trout Lake overnight low temperatures through the winter are in the 10's. This lake is so wonderful. Hiking is a popular thing to do around Bull Trout Lake; Camptender Trail is a great local trail, and you can stay the night at Fir Creek Campground. Man, is there plenty  
   of entertaining stuff to do near Bull Trout Lake. Bench Creek is a magnificent site to check out, and tremendous hiking is available along the Blue Bunch Trail.
So many cool things to do here in the Sawtooth Range, too tremendous to be true. There are other places here than Bull Trout Lake, for example Martin Lake. If you don’t have a problem getting drenched, you can always go whitewater paddling on Marsh Creek. You'll need more than a day to discover everything
 
               Bull Trout Lake has to offer, you can camp at Lola Creek Campground. Man, is there plenty of cool things to do in the Sawtooth Range. Newman Lake is a pleasant lake close to Bull Trout Lake, and whitewater paddling is delightful on Bear Valley Creek.
This lake is one of the great places here in the Sawtooth Range. Don't leave Bull Trout Lake without first going for a hike along the Bear Valley Creek Trail, and nearby you hit upon Banner Summit which is a pleasant site to have a look at. The amount of rainfall that falls at Bull Trout Lake is close to the national average; January is the month that gets the most snow, and July on the other hand is the driest.

Moderate uphill hike..couple of miles from road; classic rock wall mountain behind lake; nice place to backpack into..day trip or camp overnite; some wild life; hiked in here in summer and early spring when 1 - 2' of snow on ground (and melt was rushing down mountain side beneath snow...flowers growing in ground beneath crystal clear runoff (beneath snow...quite a site).Didn't catch any fish during August trips. Last time I was in there was the 1970's....

Elk Lake

Elk lake is approximately 12 miles from the Grandjean campground. You can not reach it by car. The trail has mild elevation gain and parallels the river during many sections. There are no designated campgrounds at elk lake however 3 spots have obvious use. Deer and elk are commonly viewed near the lake, especially in the early morning or near dusk....
