    Do stop by Buck Lake while you're in this part of Idaho. This lake is so wonderful. Buck Lake is great enough to spend more than a day at, Pistol Creek Campground is a great local campground, and if the weather is good, you can go for a hike along the Big Chief Creek Trail. There's whitewater on Salmon River - Middle Fork for all you adrenaline rush seekers. Lakes are pleasant; Papoose Lakes is a lake that's close to Buck Lake. All through the long summer days,  
   highs usually are in the 70's at Buck Lake. When the night sets in temperatures sink down into the 30's. Highs during the wintertime are ordinarily in the 30's while the cold winter nights at Buck Lake are in the 0's.
You just can't envision the amount of outdoors fun stuff the Salmon River Mountains has to offer. A brilliant place to camp here at Buck Lake is Sheepeater Hot Springs Campground; while you're here you can take a hike along the Big Baldy Ridge
 
               Trail. What a place this is for outdoors folks. The snow is perfect at Brundage Mountain, and there are some perfect whitewater spots on Rapid River.
The annual precipitation here at Buck Lake is about average; January is when you get the most snow here; July is when it's the driest. Whohoo, so many fun things in one place! The Salmon River Mountains rocks! Have a splendid hiking adventure along the Mule Hill Trail, and some of the water close by flows, like Remington Creek. Buck Lake is a beautiful lake in the Salmon River Mountains.
