     A wonderful vista of lovely Swanholm Peak is available from Blue Jay Lake, and there are some wonderful whitewater spots on Payette River - South Fork. Summertime at Blue Jay Lake comes with high temperatures in the 80's. Once the sun is down it sinks down to the 40's. During the winter highs are in the 30's, and nighttime lows in the 10's for Blue Jay Lake. Blue Jay Creek flows through this neighborhood, and Blue Jay Lake is a delightful site to visit for  
   more than one day, Graham Bridge Campground is a delightful site to camp nearby. Going for a hike on the Hot Springs Creek Trail is always a tremendous adventure; there are other places here than Blue Jay Lake, for example Lodgepole Lake.
Sleep Inn Mountain Home is a great place to get some rest. The annual rainfall here at Blue Jay Lake is about average; the month of January is the wettest with most of the snow, and the driest month of the year is July.
 
               All the outdoors entertaining stuff in the neighborhood of Blue Jay Lake will keep you coming back persistently. There are great spots to look at along the Yuba River Trail, and Johnson Creek Campground is a nice local campground.
This lake is so wonderful. Near Blue Jay Lake you find the Black Warrior Creek Trail which is a glorious hiking trail, and Warrior Lakes is a magnificent lake nearby.

Elk lake is approximately 12 miles from the Grandjean campground. You can not reach it by car. The trail has mild elevation gain and parallels the river during many sections. There are no designated campgrounds at elk lake however 3 spots have obvious use. Deer and elk are commonly viewed near the lake, especially in the early morning or near dusk....
