The trail to Blackmare Lake is in very poor shape. The fire last year weakened the trees and the wind took down many of them. There are several 24-36' logs across the trail preventing horse travel. Hikers can make the trek, but expect to be climbing over a lot of down timber. The trails themselves are not terrible, but they are very loose with decomposed granite sand.
The other big problem with the trail is that past the signs at the first bridge, there is absolutely no direction as to where the trails will take you or how far you are along the trails.

Blackmare Lake is always a pleasure to visit. All through the summertime months highs here at Blackmare Lake get into the 80's. Throughout the dark hours of summer temperatures descend down into the 40's. High temperatures throughout the wintertime are normally in the 30's; overnight lows at Blackmare Lake throughout the winter usually fall into the 10's. Blackmare Summit is near Blackmare Lake and is definitely a great spot to check out, and on a delightful day

| | you can take a hike along the Needles Trail. Blackmare Lake is a good location of typical precipitation; January is the wettest month with most snow; July meanwhile is the driest month.
That right there is a heap of entertaining things already but it goes on, the Salmon River Mountains has it all. All the outdoors amusing things close to Blackmare Lake will keep you coming back again and again. If you need a site to stay Ashley Inn is a pleasant choice, and | |

why not camp at Kennally Creek Campground while you're here at Blackmare Lake. Going for a hike on the South Fork Blackmare Cutoff is always a good adventure, and if you came for an overnight stay Poverty Flat Campground is a brilliant
location to camp.
Blackmare Lake is one of the lakes here in the Salmon River Mountains. This lake is so wonderful. The summit of Square Top can be made out from Blackmare Lake, and float down the rapids of Salmon River - South
Fork in a kayak. Be careful coming to the Salmon River Mountains, you might not ever want to return back home again. If you come at the right time of year, Salmon River - South Fork offers some brilliant whitewater, and there is a glorious hiking trail close by called the Dollar Creek Ridge Trail.
