If you like lakes and you're in this part of Idaho you can check out Black Lake. All through the summer months at Black Lake temperatures are commonly in the 90's. When the night sets in temperatures plunge down into the 50's. The winter brings highs down to the 40's, and nighttime lows at Black Lake during the wintertime frequently plunge into the 20's. This lake is so wonderful. Playing golf is lots of fun at City of McCall Golf Course. Good hiking is available
along the Crestline Trail, and since you might be in a lake visiting mood you can always pop by close by Squaw Lake.
And that's not all the things you can do here in the Salmon River Mountains. Mccall Super 8 Lodge is a great place to get some rest; don't leave Black Lake without first going for a hike along the Fall Creek Trail. It is very arid here at Black Lake frequently; May is when you get the most rain here, and the driest month of the year is July.

This lake is so wonderful. Why not camp at Black Lee Campground since you're here at Black Lake; a day at pretty Sylvan Beach in the neighborhood of Black Lake is a magnificent thing to do. If you go for the outdoors, you'll have a thing about Black Lake. If you came for an overnight stay Lake Fork Campground is a great location to camp, and a wonderful place for whitewater paddling is Payette River - North Fork. After a long day outdoors AmericInn McCall is a great place to spend a night or two, and time spent at North Beach is always good.
Just can't get enough of the Salmon River Mountains. Go for a hike on the Box Lake Trail; not far from Black Lake you'll stumble on Blackwell Lake which is a pretty lake.

Amazing escape! A fun hike and a fantastic fishing lake!...

Fish Lake

Very hard to get to bad roads, good fishing medium size trout....

Blackmare Lake
17 miles away
The trail to Blackmare Lake is in very poor shape. The fire last year weakened the trees and the wind took down many of them. There are several 24-36' logs across the trail preventing horse travel. Hikers can make the trek, but expect to be climbing over a lot of down timber. The trails themselves are not terrible, but they are very loose with decomposed granite sand.
The other big problem with the trail is that past the signs at the first bridge, there is absolutely no direction as to where the trails will take you or how far you are along the trails. ...

Miners Peak Trail
18 miles away
The trail has not been maintained. I was able to hike it easily to the top 2 or 3 years ago. Not today...It was overgrown a lot and substantial deadfall. There are some burned spots also. That said, it's beautiful and a rigorous hike. Wear pants as the twigs will scratch you, and take insect repellant. Check your body for ticks also. The lookout is cool....
