During the months of summer at Big Sand Lake highs are mostly in the 80's, and the nighttime is slightly colder of course, typically in the 40's. around here, and the driest month of the year is July. This lake is one of the great places here in the Bitterroot Range.
That right there is a lot of fun things already but it goes on, the Bitterroot Range has it all. You can
run the rapids of Big Sand Creek right next door to Big Sand Lake; there is a splendid hiking trail close by called the Sally Ridge Trail. This lake is so wonderful. Schumaker Campground is a glorious campground here, and the Granite
Ridge Trail is a good hiking trail nearby. Super 8 Motel - Hamilton is a good spot to get some rest, and you can stay the night at Colt Creek Campground.
